Event Description

ACHSM – Aotearoa Journal Club will be held the last Wednesday of the month from 4.30-5.30pm 

This is a great opportunity for NZ members to engage with your national professional network; to share new ideas, innovation and research; to advance your management and leadership competencies.

Engaging with Maori Service Providers

In September, we are honoured to welcome Hayden Wano FCHSM CHE as our guest presenter. This month we will take on a Q&A style approach to the session, no pre-reading required. About the presenter: Hayden Wano FCHSM CHE

Hayden has over 30 years experience in senior health management and governance, recently retired from his role as Chief Executive of Tui Ora Limited. Tui Ora is an Iwi owned entity. It is the largest community based health and social service provider in Taranaki. It is also the major provider of kaupapa Maori community based specialist mental health services in the province.

He has over 40 years health sector experience. He has been a registered comprehensive nurse and worked as a practitioner in community mental health and is a former manager of mental health services, a director of area mental health services in Taranaki, and including the position of Director of Clinical Services with Taranaki Healthcare Limited.

Hayden has held a wide range of governance positions, including Interim Chairman National Health Board, Chairmanship of Taranaki District Health Board, Health Sponsorship Council, TSB Community Trust and TSB Group Ltd, Board member Taranaki Chamber of Commerce. He is also a former Director of TSB Bank.

Hayden is currently Chair of Te Hiringa Mahara (Mental Health and Wellbeing Commission, Chair He Toronga Pakihi ki Taranaki, Trustee of WISE Group and a Board member of SurfAid. In 2017 Hayden was awarded the Taranaki Mayoral Award for Business Excellence. Hayden is of Taranaki, Te Atiawa, and Ngati Awa descent.
